Catherine Dupire was born in Lille in 1949. An exuberant personality, she has been passionate about painting, drawing and poetry from a very young age.
She began painting in 1981 after staying in artist colonies in the former Yugoslavia and then on the island of Zakynthos, in Greece and also in Africa. It was from 1985 that she devoted herself full time to the visual arts.
What characterizes the universe of Catherine Dupire is the gestural and spontaneous aspect of her creations. His abundant universe met with talkative characters on stage – portraits or self-portraits – made up of bursts of color that dot canvases and drawings. His compositions are dotted with sentences or titles in an interrogative or exclamatory mode.
